Greetings,
In our continuing effort to reduce the time and energy we all spend with annoying junk e-mail (SPAM), SkyPoint Communications is installing a new mail server that accepts e-mail only from legitimate mail servers that have matching forward and reverse DNS entries. Spammers who run their own mail servers that do not comply with this requirement, which is most of them, will be sent an error message stating why their e-mail message was not delivered as follows: error 5.7.1 550 Fix reverse DNS for xxxxx, or use your ISP Server This means that there is not a valid reverse IP configuration in the zone file for that server error 4.1.8 451 Client IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx does not resolve This means that the regular forward IP address of the mailserver does not resolve at all. error 4.1.8 451 Possibly forged hostname for xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxxx This means that it was able to resolve the IP address, but it does not resolve to a hostname that matches both forward and reverse lookups. Clients that experience any of these messages should contact their ISP and ask them to correct their DNS records so that their forward and reverse lookups match. Mail servers on the internet should have forward addresses that match the reverse addresses as a way of differentiating valid email servers from invalid ones. Once a valid forward and reverse entry is established, normal email communications can commence. If you want to opt out of this new feature, please contact Skypoint Technical Support.
